AGRICULTURAL POTENTIAL STUDY

Location: Bahrain, Arabian Gulf
Client: Ministry of Commerce and Agriculture, Bahrain

PDF version of this project

The Bahrain Agricultural Potential Study comprised three stages - a Survey and Sector Review, preparation of an Agricultural Development Plan, and a Project Identification and Feasibility Study (PIFS). The initial survey identified two agricultural sectors; a traditional sector based largely on groundwater irrigation of dates, vegetables and fodder crops, and a modern sector including the use of treated sewage effluent. The objectives of the PIFS were identify and prioritise projects which would utilise the country's agricultural potential to the greatest advantage.
