Reverse Osmosis desalination project, Bahrain. A detailed
feasibility study and implementation of a project to establish
a 46.5 ML/day reverse osmosis desalination plant, fed by
brackish groundwater extracted from the Tertiary Rus Formation.
Ten investigation boreholes were drilled and tested; testing
involved geophysical logging, long and short-term pumping
tests, and detailed hydrochemical studies. Following satisfactory
results from the testing program, a production wellfield
was drilled and equipped.
Services Rendered
As Senior Hydrogeologist on the project Chris Jewell was
responsible for managing the drilling and geophysical logging
subcontractors, organising and analysing pumping tests,
and carrying out hydrochemical sampling. He carried out
most of the data reduction and interpretation, wrote large
sections of the report, and managed report production, which
was carried out locally.
